Statement & Billing Options

CHELCO offers both paperless and traditional statements and several billing options to suit your needs. We encourage members to sign-up for paperless billing to reduce the costs of printing and mailing paper versions. As a not-for-profit cooperative, cost reductions helps CHELCO continue to provide the safe, reliable electricity at reasonable rates our members expect.

We offer billing options to help you manage your energy budget.

  • In addition to the traditional monthly bill, we offer an Average Billing option to help level your energy costs month-to-month making your payments more predictable.
  • If you prefer to pay smaller amounts more frequently, we offer the Prepay option. You can refill your account when it is low with no monthly bills, no late fees and little or no deposit.
  • We also offer Time of Use a special rate structure for those who want to routinely reduce their energy usage during peak hours for a lower off-peak rate.

With averaged billing, you can smooth out the seasonal highs and lows from your electricity bill. Your monthly bill will be the average of the eleven months prior. This is a rolling average meaning that, if your usage patterns go up or down over the course of the previous year, the amount you pay will be adjusted monthly. This billing option helps keep your bill consistent month to month and avoid higher bills typically associated with summer and winter months. To sign up for averaged billing fill out the form at the bottom of this page and return it to us. Members must have service for 12 months with no late payments to qualify for the program.

Joining our Prepay program lets members pay for electricity on their schedule, adding funds to their accounts as often as they choose. You can refill your account when it is low with no monthly bills, no late fees and a deposit as little as $25.

Is Prepay right for you? If you answer yes to the following questions, it could be!

  • Does making weekly or biweekly payments seem appealing rather than one lump sum due on a set date? Payments can be made online or by other methods. 
  • Would you like to avoid paying a large deposit or use your current deposit to pay toward your electric bill?
  • Does avoiding late fees or reconnect/disconnect fee appeal to you? 
  • Are you ready to be in control of your electricity consumption?

CHELCO's Time of Use rates are made for members who are careful about when they use electricity or for those whose daily routine is different from the average member. The TOU plan offers lower rates during off-peak hours and higher rates during the 3-4 hours daily when the peak is highest. Click here to find out if this plan is for you.
