Power Restoration - How Your Power is Restored After the Storm Passes

Heavy rain, tornadoes and hurricanes.  Power outages come with severe weather.  Restoring power after a major outage is a big job that involves much more that simply throwing a switch or removing a tree from a line.

The major goal is to restore power safely to the greatest number of members in the shortest time possible. The major cause of outages is damage caused by fallen trees.  That's why CHELCO has an ongoing right-of-way maintenance program all year long.

Report your outage to CHELCO at 892-2111 or 800-342-0990.  Employees or response services use every available phone line to receive your outage reports.  Remember that a major outage can affect thousands of other members.

The illustration above and the steps below explain how power typically is restored after a major disaster, such as a hurricane or other severe weather.  Click here for enlarged view of "How your power is restored.
