Gingerbread

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • ½ tsp. salt
Mix dry ingredients together, followed by wet ingredients. Mix in two beaten eggs last. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees in greased 13x9 pan or the recipe will make about 24 muffins.
