CHELCO members re-elect three trustees

Members of Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative (CHELCO) voted to retain three incumbent trustees who were up for re-election this year. Results for the 2011 trustee election were announced during the cooperative’s Annual Meeting April 16 in DeFuniak Springs.

In addition to the trustee election, CHELCO members voted to accept the revision of the cooperative’s bylaws.

District 3 Trustee Jim Bishop, District 5 Trustee Ronald Jones and District 8 Trustee Gayle Hughes were re-elected to serve three-year terms. Each has served on CHELCO’s Board of Trustees for a number of years.

Bishop is a lifelong resident of Walton County, and he is a retired teacher and coach with the Walton County School District. He lives in South Walton.

Jones currently serves as president of CHELCO’s board. He, also, is a lifelong Walton County resident and is a self-employed building contractor. He lives in Mossy Head.

Hughes retired from a 25-year career in human resources with Westinghouse Electric Corp., Defense Group. She lives in Bluewater Bay.

Thanks to the candidates who showed a willingness to serve CHELCO’s members by placing their names on the ballot.
