CHELCO members help
get energy message to legislators
March/April 2009
|
Everyone is concerned about the energy problems facing this country. The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
(NRECA) saw the handwriting on the wall almost three years ago and began Our Energy, Our Future, a national grassroots campaign to engage consumer/members in a conversation with elected officials about how we meet climate change goals while keeping electricity reliable and affordable.
The campaign asked co-op members to send e-mails to their members of Congress and start the conversation by asking key questions about climate change, fuel supply, technology and costs. Co-ops around the country embraced the campaign and thousands of emails went to elected officials.
CHELCO members will have an opportunity to express their concerns via video messages, which will be recorded during Annual Meeting and at various times throughout the year. These comments will then be sent to legislators who represent this area.
