DeFuniak Springs (June 8, 2022) – The CHELCO Charity Golf Tournament, hosted at Blackstone Golf Course on May 20, raised more than $12,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and Emerald Coast Autism Center.

The four-person scramble featured 22 teams and nearly 30 total sponsors. Southland Utility Services, Gasworks, PowerGrid Services, Panhandle Power Solutions and Tri-State Utility Products each sponsored at the $1,000 Gold Level.

Cooperatives like CHELCO follow seven guiding principles, including the seventh cooperative principle, Concern for Community. CHELCO participates in events such as the annual charity golf tournament to impact countless organizations and lives in the local community.

“We’re thankful to be part of a great community that gives back, and because of their participation, our tournament continues to impact many lives,” said Bonnie Whitfield, CHELCO Communications and Community Affairs Supervisor. “Also, I would like to thank Bill Putz and the staff at Blackstone Golf Course for the hospitality and professionalism they provide each year.”

CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 60,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties.
